Prednisone

Prednisone belongs to the class of medicines called corticosteroids and can be prescribed for the treatment of severe allergic reactions, multiple sclerosis, lupus and certain types of arthritis. In some cases it can be prescribed to treat the symptoms of some kinds of cancer. Depending on which form of this medicine you have been prescribed you will have to take prednisone from one to four times a day with some food. It’s important that you take your medicine at the same time every day to maintain the same concentration of drug in your bloodstream. Your dosage may be adjusted later depending on how you responded to the treatment. Do not change the dose without previously discussing it with your health care provider as this decision can be made only by a qualified professional.
